Leerdam: a town that blows glass

By Isla Quinn

Heat. Breath. A gather of molten glass on a pipe. That is how Leerdam’s glass starts, and the town has been doing it for a long time. Wikipedia says that since the eighteenth century the glass and timber industries have strongly shaped Leerdam’s culture, and that glass made here is known internationally as Royal Leerdam.
